Greg and I took the opportunity take 5 weeks off before we get really busy over the summer season. We got back yesterday from a wonderful holiday in the US. We stayed in New York for a week and then spent 4 weeks driving around New England. Many of our guests come from the USA so it was interesting seeing many of the places they had talked about and where some of our guests live. We enjoyed seeing the lovely autumn leaves of “the fall”, walking in the National Parks and bike riding. We saw lots of whalers mansions and lovely homes from a bygone era.
By yesterday though we were pining for home. It was lovely flying into Auckland on a glorious spring day and seeing all the rolling green hills of New Zealand and the turquoise waters of the Hauraki Gulf. As we drove home from Auckland back to Kaimai Country Lodge we enjoyed seeing all the young calves skipping around the fields and the cows quietly grazing.
The trees, shrubs and vegetables had all grown heaps while we were away. We have come home to a vege garden full of broccoli, spinach, cauliflower, asparagus, broad beans and peas and much more. We have some guests arriving to stay on Sunday so Greg is busy getting the garden ship shape before they come.
